Weird sisters

"...something wicked this way comes..."

I wonder why we habitually call them 'witches'?
Shakespeare never does, for him they're only ever
the 'weird sisters'.
This is from our teaser shoot last year. Photo by Kuba.

Krampus is coming

We'll be shooting during the festival of Krampus. Which may be worth bearing in mind for any of us with guilty secrets.

On the night of Krampus in early December St Nick comes to town bringing gifts for the good children, but he's followed by his wicked sidekick, the fearsome Krampus, wielding sticks and ringing the bell for all the naughty children (and wives!) who have transgressed.

Last year I took a couple of quick snaps, as I sat having a quiet drink, hoping not to be noticed...

I needn't have worried: St Nick gave me a present, and it was our producer who was dragged into the street and mercilessly beaten with sticks. Surely a case of mistaken identity...?

A forbidding place

Heading out in a day or so. No snow on the ground right now apparently, the (very) early snowfalls have abated, but more's surely on the way soon.
Here's a photo from a month or so ago.

A forbidding place, those medieval architects knew how to do 'intimidating'. At something like 4,000 feet above sea level this is an amazing and desolate spot. The ancient castle has survived 900-odd years of ice and storms. How it copes with the arrival of our film crew and armies of warriors we'll soon know. It's a stunning place.

The HD debacle

Me and my trusty team (that's Matt Brodie, Dave Aspinall and Kate
Wright) will be heading out with full XDCAM-HD gear sporting a fine
set of DigiPrimes supplied by our dear friends at Visuals. It'll be my
first foray into the tapeless world, I'm hoping it's going to be good
for the snow.

Green light

With less than two weeks to go until we turn-over, we (us producers) though we should start a blog. So here we go; a semi-public diary of the production of The Tragedy of Macbeth.
